This private tour takes you to the foot of Mount Ararat, where the magnificent Khor Virap Monastery stands in one of Armenia's most iconic landscapes. In clear weather, a breathtaking view of the biblical mountain opens from here. During the visit, you will discover the fascinating history of this sacred site, closely connected with the origins of Christianity in Armenia and its adoption as the state religion in 301.

The journey then continues to Tsaghkadzor, one of Armenia's most beloved mountain resorts. Here you will visit the medieval Kecharis Monastery and take the Tsaghkadzor Ropeway up the slope of Mount Teghenis, where picturesque views of the surrounding mountain ranges unfold before you.

1. Khor Virap Monastery

In the wide embrace of the Ararat Valley, where the air shimmers beneath the watchful gaze of a snow-crowned giant, stands Khor Virap – a shrine where legend, faith and the heartbeat of Armenia merge into one. Here, so the story goes, a deep and silent pit held Gregory the Illuminator, condemned by King Tiridates III for daring to preach a new light to his people. Years slipped by in darkness, yet within those stone walls a miracle unfolded: Gregory's hands healed the very king who had ordered his chains. Struck by grace, Tiridates raised the banner of Christianity, making Armenia the first nation to embrace it as a state faith.

2. Tsaghkadzor

Nestled in the very heart of Armenia, just 60 kilometers from Yerevan and soaring 1845 meters above sea level, lies Tsaghkadzor – a modern ski paradise and one of the nation's most breathtaking retreats. Its name, meaning "Valley of Flowers", feels like a poetic promise that nature has kept in full: in summer, emerald slopes ripple with wild blooms, while winter cloaks the peaks in a dazzling gown of snow and ice.

3. Kecharis Monastery

20-30 min Details: Kecharis Monastery

In the northwestern part of Tsaghkadzor, embraced by mountain peaks and evergreen forests, stands Kecharis Monastery – a spiritual treasure of medieval Armenia. Its origins date back to the 11th-13th centuries, when this grand complex rose in the mountains as a beacon of faith and learning. The ensemble includes four churches and two narthexes, each bearing the mark of centuries and the craftsmanship of master builders. One of the narthexes became the resting place of Magistros Grigor Pahlavuni – the distinguished statesman and founder of the monastery, whose name remains etched in Armenian history.

4. Tsaghkadzor Ropeway

In the heart of Tsaghkadzor, the jewel of Armenia's mountain resorts, stretches a cableway that has become both a landmark of leisure and a gateway to adventure. Running along the eastern slope of Mount Teghenis, it links five stations and gives access to more than a dozen ski trails of varying levels. Its story began in 1967, when the first lifts started carrying visitors and athletes toward the snowy heights.
