In the picturesque Lori province, among emerald hills and deep canyons, lies the village of Dsegh, where "All-Armenian Poet" Hovhannes Tumanyan was born. This corner of nature was not only his birthplace but also the wellspring of inspiration for a master whose works became part of the golden treasury of Armenian literature and the nation's spirit. Since 1953, the house where he lived and created has been preserved as a museum, welcoming visitors with an atmosphere of warmth and authenticity.
The founder and first director of the museum was Tumanyan's daughter, who turned the family home into a guardian of her father's memory. In the garden stands a statue of the poet, as if he still greets every guest with a smile and kind word. Inside, personal belongings, manuscripts, books and household items are carefully displayed, allowing one to step into the world where immortal works were born.
The pride of the museum is its rich library of some 8000 volumes, containing works on Armenia and the Caucasus, religion and culture, history and folklore of many nations. It reflects the breadth of Tumanyan's interests, a poet who wove together the national and the universal in his art.
Today, Dsegh is more than a village – it is a spiritual center where the land and the word unite. A visit to the museum becomes a journey into a world of ideas and emotions left by a great poet, whose soul still lives in these mountains and in the hearts of the Armenian people.
