Mount Azhdahak, rising to 3597 meters, is the highest peak of the Geghama Range and holds within it the breath of millennia. This extinct volcano stands like a stone guardian above the Armenian highlands, gifting every climber who reaches its summit with a sense of freedom and strength.

From the top unfold majestic panoramas: endless plains, blue mirrors of mountain lakes and silhouettes of distant ridges. Yet Azhdahak attracts not only with its natural beauty – its slopes are covered with ancient petroglyphs left by people who lived here thousands of years ago. These mysterious carvings of animals and hunting scenes remain unsolved puzzles, silent witnesses of ancient beliefs. Legends say the mountain keeps countless secrets that no one has yet revealed, surrounding it with a mystical aura. The ascent along rocky trails feels like a journey through time – from the era of volcanoes to the world of ancient peoples.

In spring its slopes are painted with bright carpets of wildflowers and in summer shepherds with their flocks bring life and color to the austere landscapes. For those who dare to climb its summit, the mountain reveals itself not only as a natural wonder but also as a temple of history, legends and eternity.

👉 The mountain can be reached only by 4x4 vehicle.

My name is Anahit Ghazaryan, and since 2015 I have been in a state of love! I am in love with Armenia, and I always want to talk about it! Come visit! I guarantee it will be beautiful, easy, delicious, and fun! Let's discover Armenia together, enjoy it, and fall in love! I don't like legends and tell them only when absolutely necessary, and only those that feature real historical figures! Since I was born in the middle of the last century, I talk about some events not as a historian, but as a witness!
