If the summer heat becomes overwhelming and you crave a corner of coolness, the waterfalls of Armenia offer true relief and a chance to feel the breath of untamed nature. Among the most picturesque and mysterious are Vaհagn and Astghik, hidden deep within the Khosrov Forest State Reserve.
Their names trace back to mythology: in pagan times, Astghik was revered as the goddess of beauty and fertility, while Vaհagn was honored as the mighty god of fire and war, her beloved and protector. The legend seems to come alive among the cliffs and rushing waters, giving the journey a special atmosphere. The road to the waterfalls is not an easy one – no transport can reach them and the trail itself is a real challenge even for seasoned travelers. Yet this is what makes the reward so precious: every step brings you closer to a sight impossible to forget.
Here the roar of water blends with the whisper of the forest and every visitor leaves with the feeling of having touched Armenia in its purest form.
👉 The most favorable season to visit waterfall is from the end of March till June, as the water flow force is on its highest level during that period.
