If one is tired of heat in the city and is eager to escape somewhere to freshen up, then visiting "pearls" of Armenian nature – waterfalls, is the very right idea. Two of them, Vahagn and Astghik, are located at "Khosrov Forest State Reserve". The waterfalls are connected to each other by their mythological names: in the earliest prehistoric period (Pagan times) Astghik was worshipped as the Goddess of beauty and fertility, the lover/wife of Vahagn the Dragonfighter – God of fire and war.
These waterfalls are not accessible for vehicles, hence, they are both challenging places for experienced hikers.
Note: 4 000 AMD p/p is the admission fee to enter the State Reserve.
The most favorable season to visit waterfalls is from the end of March till June, as the water flow force is on its highest level during that period.
