Trchkan Waterfall is the majestic guardian of the Armenian mountains, where waters plunge from a height of 23 meters with a thundering roar, turning the surrounding landscape into a world of eternal spray and sound. It is not only a natural wonder but also a state-protected monument, as its surroundings shelter rare species of plants, animals and birds–some listed in the Red Book.
The waterfall is embraced by wild nature, where the fresh air is filled with the fragrance of herbs and birds of prey circle above the gorge like guardians of this sacred place. For lovers of history, another treasure lies nearby: the ancient Chichkhanavank Monastery, built in the 7th century, which adds a special spiritual aura to the area. The road to Trchkan is not easy and can be reached only by 4x4 vehicles, but this very challenge makes the journey an adventure in itself.
In spring and early summer, the waterfall is at its fullest: the flow is so powerful it feels as though the mountain itself breathes living water. At that time, the roar of Trchkan can be heard long before its gleaming white curtain comes into view. In summer, it grows gentler, becoming an oasis of peace and coolness. Trchkan is where the force and beauty of nature merge into one, leaving every visitor with the feeling of encountering eternity.
