The Yerevan Museum of Modern Art is one of the most daring and innovative cultural centers of the capital. Founded in 1972 by artist Henrik Igityan, it was the very first museum in the Soviet Union dedicated exclusively to modern art. From its earliest days, it became a platform where new ideas were born and traditional notions of artistic form were challenged.
Within its halls meet works by masters of different generations – from pioneers of the avant-garde to contemporary artists in search of their own artistic language. The museum's exhibitions stand out for their diversity of themes and genres: painting and sculpture, graphics and installations, video art and experiments with new materials all find their place here. Each exhibition turns into an event that compels the viewer to see the familiar world from a different angle.
The atmosphere is infused with the energy of creativity and discovery, where every piece seems to ask a question and invite dialogue. Over the past half-century, the museum has become not only a guardian but also a creator of the history of Armenian modern art. Today it continues to surprise visitors with bold exhibitions, proving that art is a living force capable of inspiring and transforming the world.
