Martiros Sarըan was one of the greatest colorists of the 20th century – an artist whose canvases became a hymn to life, to the sun, to nature and to humanity. His paintings radiate the joy of existence, passing on to the viewer a luminous harmony of color and the vitality of the East.
On November 26, 1967, the artist's house-museum was opened in Yerevan, today preserving the richest collection of his works. Here one can trace the painter's entire journey: from early student sketches to mature canvases filled with emotional depth and inner strength. A special place belongs to his watercolors from the cycle "Tales and Dreams" (1903-1907), which reveal his early, almost fantastical world.
The collection also features works inspired by his travels across the Orient, where Saryan discovered new sources of inspiration. The museum's halls present poetic Armenian landscapes, vivid still lifes and portraits of renowned figures of the 20th century. The very atmosphere of the house seems steeped in his brushstrokes: walls breathe with color and the paintings come alive in dialogue with every visitor.
Today, this museum is not only a treasury of Saryan's art but also a place where his life-affirming vision continues to inspire new generations.
