Boloraberd or Proshaberd is one of the famous medieval fortresses of the province of Vayots Dzor. Built in the 13th century, not far from the town of Vernashen on a dominant hill, the fortress stood as prince Prosh Khaghbakian's seat. Having basalt walls, as well as water supply, it occupied an area of about 1.5 hectares. Currently only part of the walls and towers have remained.
The legend has it that prince Prosh, fearing attacks, hid his treasures within the walls of the fortress and in the nearly located mountains. It is said that if one can understand the symbols left by the prince, then he will succeed in finding the treasures.
Note: it is necessary to climb a certain distance to reach the fortress.
